Innovation Award
For trailblazing new ideas and approaches
Celebrating the founders who see the world differently and have the courage to do something about it.

Innovation often starts with the simple realization: this could work better.
A gap, a frustration, or an outdated system.
Followed by a whole lot of thought, work and testing to create something better.
We’re looking for founders who challenge conventional thinking and introduce new ways of working, creating, or delivering value. Whether it’s a product that solves a real problem, a service model that flips the script, or a business approach that changes the game, we want to see originality with intention.
What we’re looking for:
● A fresh idea or approach that addresses a genuine need
● Evidence of impact, how your innovation is making a difference
● Thoughtful execution, not just a clever concept
● The courage to challenge the status quo and forge a new path
If you’ve built something that moves your industry, community, or way of thinking forward, we want to hear about it.

Giving Back Award
For businesses creating meaningful impact through generosity and contribution
This award recognises the founders who understand that success brings with it an opportunity to contribute, to lift others up, and to make a genuine difference.

We’re not looking for one-off gestures or box-ticking charity work. We’re looking for businesses that have woven giving back into the fabric of how they operate — whether that’s through charitable initiatives, volunteering, mentoring, advocacy, community programmes, or creating opportunities for others to succeed.
What we’re looking for:
A genuine commitment to contributing to people, communities, or causes beyond your commercial goals
Evidence of meaningful and sustained impact through what you give, support, or offer
Initiatives that reflect the values and purpose of your business
A culture of generosity, responsibility, and contribution
Real outcomes for the individuals, communities, or causes you support
This isn’t about how much you give. It’s about the intention behind it, the consistency of your actions, and the positive difference you create along the way.
If your business is making the world a little better through what you give back, we want to celebrate you.

Co-Founder Award
For exceptional partnerships driving business growth and impact
This award celebrates the co-founders who’ve chosen to do it together — navigating the wins, the wobbles, the tough decisions, and all the uncertainty that comes with building something from scratch.

We’re not looking for businesses that just happen to have two names on the paperwork. We’re looking for partnerships where it’s bloody obvious that together, you’re stronger. Founders who bring different strengths to the table, who challenge each other, back each other up, and share a vision that’s helped the business grow and thrive.
What we’re looking for:
A strong partnership built on trust, respect, and shared values
Complementary skills and contributions that make the business better
Real examples of how you’ve navigated challenges and growth together
A shared vision that drives your success and the impact you create
A partnership that strengthens your business, your team, your clients, or the wider community

Community Builder Award
For those fostering connection and collaboration
This award celebrates the founders who bring people together, create spaces where others feel they belong, and build relationships that go far beyond transactions.

We’re not looking for audience size or how many people are on your mailing list. We’re looking for real connection. The kind of leadership that creates environments where people feel supported, valued, encouraged, and empowered to grow. People who understand that when communities thrive, everyone benefits.
What we’re looking for:
A clear commitment to creating meaningful connection and belonging
Evidence of an engaged and genuinely supportive community
Opportunities for collaboration, learning, support, or shared growth
Leadership that builds trust, inclusivity, and authentic relationships
Real impact on the individuals, businesses, or communities involved
This isn’t about building a following. It’s about creating a place where people feel seen, supported, and stronger because they’re part of something bigger than themselves.
If you’ve built a community that brings people together and creates lasting impact, we’d love to recognise your contribution.

Impact Award
For brands that make people and planet their top priority
Celebrating the founders who understand that profit and purpose are inseparable partners.

In a world where impact can feel like a buzzword, this award recognises founders who’ve woven social, environmental, or ethical responsibility into the DNA of their business. Integrated into the way they build their business and the why it exists.
We’re looking for businesses where impact is intentional, embedded, and real. Whether your focus is local or global, what matters is that you’re using business as a force for good and making decisions that prioritise people and planet alongside profit.
What we’re looking for:
● Clear evidence of social, environmental, or ethical impact at the heart of your business model
● Intentional decision-making that integrates purpose and profit with integrity
● Measurable outcomes or tangible change created through your work
● Responsibility beyond your bottom line: considering the wider ripple effect of your business
● Authenticity and transparency in how you communicate and deliver on your commitments
We’re looking beyond the size of the impact or the perfect sustainability report. We’re looking for intention, making responsible choices, and proving that business can be a powerful tool for positive change.
If you’re building something that leaves the world — or your corner of it — better than you found it, we want to celebrate you.

Podcast for Impact Award
For thought-provoking, empowering audio storytelling
Celebrating the podcasters who understand the influence and responsibility that comes with a microphone.

In a world saturated with content, this award recognises the founders using podcasting to create something meaningful. The ones who lead conversations that matter, challenge perspectives with care, and amplify voices that deserve to be heard.
We’re not looking for the biggest audience or the slickest production. We’re looking for depth, substance, and values-led storytelling. Podcasts that make people think, feel, and see the world a little differently.
What we’re looking for:
● Thought-provoking content that challenges assumptions, sparks reflection, or shifts perspectives
● Empowering storytelling that uplifts, educates, or gives voice to underrepresented experiences
● Values-driven approach that demonstrates integrity, compassion, and intentionality in every episode
● Meaningful dialogue that contributes positively to culture, community, or collective understanding
● Consistency in quality and purpose: showing up with substance, not just frequency
We’re looking for great podcasting that isn’t defined by polished production or viral moments. Podcasters whose storytelling resonates with listeners, inspires action, and deepens their connection to what matters.
If your podcast is shaping culture, we want to celebrate you.

Voice of Influence Award
For leaders using their voice to make change
Celebrating the speakers who treat every stage as an opportunity to lead with purpose and responsibility.

In a world full of noise, this award recognises the leaders who use their voice with intention. The ones who step onto stages, panels, and into community spaces not for applause, but to inspire action, challenge thinking, and create meaningful change that outlasts the moment.
We’re looking for speakers who don’t just deliver content — they move people. Who lead with clarity, speak with courage, and leave audiences feeling equipped, empowered, and ready to act.
What we’re looking for:
● Clear, compelling messaging that cuts through and sticks with your audience
● Courage in delivery: speaking truth, challenging assumptions, or addressing topics that matter
● Ability to inspire action: not just motivation, but tangible change in how people think or what they do
● Consistency across platforms: whether it’s keynote stages, intimate workshops, or community conversations
● Evidence of lasting impact: testimonials, shifts in thinking, or movements sparked by your voice
We’re not looking for the most polished or loudest voice in the room. We’re looking for meaningful voices creating conversations that resonate, inspire reflection, and spark real change.
If your words move people beyond the moment and into action, we want to celebrate you.

Overcoming Adversity
For resilience and courage in business
Celebrating the founders who’ve faced the hard stuff, and kept going anyway.

In a world that often celebrates the highlight reel, this award recognises the leaders who’ve navigated real challenges and still shown up with integrity, purpose, and determination. The ones who’ve been tested — by personal struggles, professional setbacks, or circumstances beyond their control — and chose to keep building, keep leading, and keep moving forward.
We’re looking for resilience, growth, and the kind of courage that only comes from walking through difficulty and coming out the other side stronger.
What we’re looking for:
● Evidence of significant personal or professional challenges you’ve faced while building or running your business
● Resilience in how you responded: the courage to keep going, adapt, or rebuild when it would have been easier to walk away
● Integrity and purpose maintained throughout the difficulty: showing that your values held even when things got hard
● Growth that came from the experience: lessons learned, strength gained, or perspective shifted
● Honesty in how you share your story: vulnerability that inspires others, not performance or perfection
The focus here isn’t on comparing hardships or measuring who has overcome the most. This award honours the strength it takes to face adversity and keep leading with purpose and determination.
If you’ve been through the fire and kept building anyway, we want to celebrate you.
How We Judge
At the Makers & Shapers Awards, we’re looking for intention, integrity, and impact. Perfection isn’t the measure here.
Each category celebrates a specific strength, but the judges will also consider how these qualities show up across your business as a whole. Because the best founders excel in more than one area and lead with values that touch everything they do.
🌱 How We View Business Success
Business success is not judged as a standalone category.
Instead, it’s considered in context across all awards, recognising that success looks different for different founders, stages, and business models.
When assessing nominees and selecting winners, judges will consider business success in relation to:
● Sustainability and longevity: businesses built to last, not just to scale
● Financial responsibility and viability: growth that’s intentional, not reckless
● Alignment between values, wellbeing, and growth: success that doesn’t come at the cost of yourself or others
● Thoughtful decision-making over time: choices made with care, not just speed
● Businesses designed to support life rather than consume it
We intentionally do not define success by revenue size, speed of growth, or visibility alone. Instead, we look at how well a business is built to serve, evolve, and operate with integrity.
This ensures that businesses of different sizes and stages can be recognised, and that success is celebrated without glorifying hustle, burnout, or scale for its own sake.
🏆 Maker or Shaper of the Year
The overall Maker or Shaper of the Year will be selected from the category winners.
This honour reflects more than a single category win.
This recognition celebrates businesses whose values are reflected across multiple categories. It’s about being highly commended across multiple categories, showing that the core values we believe in are the heartbeat of your business.
The Maker or Shaper of the Year is a founder who embodies what we stand for: resilience, collaboration, integrity, impact, and the courage to build something meaningful. They lead with intention across everything they do.
If you’re nominated, the judges will look at the full picture of your business, your leadership, and the way you show up — not just your results, but how you achieve them.
